I've noticed a problem with mismatched sample rates. Mark, try running jackd
with a different rate (-r 44100?). Setting -r 44100 allowed me to play the
majority of mp3s that are at that rate, with jack in non-realtime mode.

Still getting errors in realtime mode though:

joe at halfrek ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Winamp $ wine WINAMP.EXE 
zombified - calling shutdown handler
cannot read response from jack server (Resource temporarily unavailable)
cannot read response from jack server (Resource temporarily unavailable)
err:wave:JACK_OpenWaveOutDevice jack server not running?
err:wave:JACK_shutdown_wwo unable to reconnect with jack...


jackd errors:

subgraph starting at wine_jack_out_0 timed out (subgraph_wait_fd=7, status = 0,
state = Running)


**** alsa_pcm: xrun of at least 1.367 msecs



**** alsa_pcm: xrun of at least 0.021 msecs

cannot create new client; wine_jack_out_0 already exists
cannot complete client connection process
