I have seen this problem with an ATI X700 graphics card, but I am not sure if 
it is a Wine bug; these cards have problems with other native Linux games.

Can someone with the problem attach a console output log?
Run it with 'wine wow -opengl &> ~/wowlog'
and attach 'wowlog'.

The log should be saved even if WoW or the computer freezes.
