OK, first of all have a good read of the notes I posted for installing dns7 ,
it will give you on overview of the situation.

Wine is getting very close on this one now but there was some regression wrt
the installer in wine>0.9.20 , you will find comment about that as well. I
recall I needed to use an earlier snapshot to install then I could run it with
0.9.20 with just a couple of natives.

The installer looks for regkeys to see if IE5 or later is present because it
needs some of the MS speach API.

I did look into this extensively with c.20050524 wine

You can fairly simply trace and add the regkey needed to fool the installer
into continuing, but at that stage it failed further down the line when it hit
the actual lack of the files it required.

IIRC adding the reg key was sufficient to get it through the installer.

I am very insterested in ironing out some of the remaining issues on DNS. V7
seems to be the best prospect at this time since there are additional issues
with the online registration process required for >=v8.

The heart of the speach rec. engine has not changed since v7, most of the diffs
seem to be stuff like IE integration and commercial changes.

The key to getting top quality speach rec. on wine seems to lie in v7.

regards.
