I installed and ran autocad under Windows 2000 mode.

Installation ran to completion, although the Volo View Express part of the
installation did not run at all.

The installation process stuffed up the PATH variable in the system.reg file
for the HKEY_LOCALE_MACHINE\System\Current Control Set\Control\Session
Manager\Environment section. So I inserted "C:\Program Files\Autodesk Shared\"
for the PATH.

Then when trying to run the executable acad.exe, it complained that I was
missing the following dlls MSVCIRT.dll and MFC42.dll, so I copied these from my
Windows XP system32 directory to my wine\windows\system32 directory.

Then the executable worked, but started failing after around 2 mins. During
the 2 mins I could open/save files, draw autocad objects and print.
