unplayable
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.51.
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-directx-dinput

"Aliens vs. Predator 2" is a first person shooter developed by Monolith
Productions using the LithTech Talon game engine. While the game runs and looks
fine, erratic mouse movement renders it unplayable: When the mouse is moved at
normal speeds to change the view angle, it seems to immediately move back or
recenter itself, making it impossible to look around in a controlled fashion.
Only when the mouse is moved very, very slowly it is possible to turn around
without that "back-snapping" effect. As soon as the speed surpasses a certain
(low) threshold, mouse movement stops being usable.
The tested version of the game is the latest patch level, v1.0.9.6.
The version of Wine tested is v0.9.50. The Wine configuration is fairly
untouched. The Windows version is set to Windows XP. Pixel and vertex shader
support is enabled, and the offscreen rendering mode is set to fbo. The sound
driver is ALSA. No DLL overrides were added.
Testing was undertaken using nVidia's proprietary graphics driver in version
160.04 on a GeForce 8800 GTX, with X.org v7.3 (xorg-server v1.4.0.90) and Linux
v2.6.23.10. The mouse is a Logitech MX1000 using the xf86-input-evdev driver in
version 1.1.5. The distribution is Gentoo Linux.
