I downloaded a demo of the current version (2.0), and
will file bugs for that, but it's probably much newer
than the one you have (yours was partly 16 bits)
and has different bugs.

He's not saying regression testing is useless; he's
saying you need to do it yourself, as we can't help
if we can't get a copy of the app, and it's awful
hard for us to do that if we don't even know what
it's called.  So go ahead and do the regression test
by building from source and using 'git bisect' to find
the patch that broke things.
If you can find a copy we can try, so much the better.

(There seems to be one or two for sale on ebay.fr; are
any of those the same version you have?)
