Yes, I'm running compiz, with nvidia closed source driver downloaded from
ubuntu gutsy repo.

Maybe the issue is really that wine cannot change the color depth from 32bit to
16 and viceversa, because same game installation runs with 16bit and is fully
working. No 32bit change is called.

Let me do some more test...
