When do you press the cancel button in World in Conflict? Is this some error
box that pops up in Windows as well? Maybe the real problem is somewhere else,
and the old behavior before the patch just prevented a different bug from
showing up?

My understanding of "cancel" is to stop starting up, exit, or stop doing
something; So the bug report sounds a bit strange to me. Still it is a
regression.
