Trying the stable version of the game, I've found that using wine 0.9.49 (but
also  *.48 and previous I think) it freezes on startup if a joypad is attached.

I've tried with two different joypads (a Logitech WingMan and a M$ SideWinder)
but they have the same issue. The warn logs I catched are:

warn:dinput:JoystickAImpl_Acquire already acquired
warn:winsock:WSARecvFrom  -> ERROR 10035
warn:accel:TranslateAcceleratorA invalid accel handle=(nil)
warn:dinput:JoystickAImpl_Poll not acquired

If I only use a keyboard the game starts!
