This bug is also relevant to the retail (steam) version of HL2.

It started occuring on my system after upgrade from wine 0.9.42 to wine 0.9.46.

After downgrade to version 0.9.42 HL2 starts normally.

Kernel Linux 2.6.22-13-rt
nvidia 100.14.19

on Lenovo T61 (1GB RAM, Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7300  @ 2.00GHz, nVidia
