Thanks for the tips; I'll keep them both in mind.

The application may be found at [1], with a direct link at [2].  It is
freeware, but not free software -- then again, it's the Windows world.

Again, I'll remind that the installer worked fine both for "tainted" profile
and for clean profile.  The application itself on a tainted profile causes the
unhandled exception that caused me to file this bug, while on a clean profile
it does not even spit any debug messages: it just plain doesn't work.  Or
rather, it's like it started something, finished, and returned to shell, which
should not happen because it's a GUI tool.
