I have managed to install Mono 1.1.18.  It appears (through web research) that
any version of Mono 1.2 will NOT work with Wine.  I have complied two
applications through Mono/Mac and ran them under both Darwine and
CrossOver/Mac.  It appears the application I'm having problems with is causing
Memory Faults and will be covered with a different bug (possibly reported to
Mono.)
