As of 1.1.0 via the Ubuntu Debian repoitories running version 1.0 of this game,
the problem persists.  It is impossible to patch the game and test it as the
copy protection issue prevents this game from being played.

I'd suggest that this bug is probably pertaining to the NOCD edition, as with
all of my experiments using a legally purchased copy, the game will not load
under Wine.
