I've been messing with the demo (available http://www.nfshome.com/demos.php)
and have not had a terrible amount of luck.

I have gotten the speedtrap race to work about 5 times in total.  Maybe 50
tries; messing with tons of settings/tracks/cars.  However; the speedtrap race
did work perfectly those 5 times.  From stsrt to finish the experience felt
near perfect.  The game is definetely really close to being perfect.

Other things to note:
Installer worked fine
Game crashes on video settings change
(Rarely) sound would crash but game would continue
With some video options the game would start, but output a ton of repeated
warnings in STDOUT and the game would run at 1 or 2 FPS.  Cannot reproduce now
but could do so before i begin messing with stuff.
