I confirm this bug.  Took me a long time of searching before I came across this
page.  Thanks for those who have posted.  I've contacted the wine mailing list
with no reassurance.

What I've noticed is d3d works well, but OpenGL crashes.

I've been doing some extensive testing against a file "gameui_english.txt" due
to the predictable "Options" "Exit" menu, and noticed if you put a blank
"gameui_english.txt" in the valve/resource folder, you can get the game to
load.  It appears to be a bug related to having spaces, since "Options" and
"Exit" don't have a space, but "Find Servers" "Create Servers" etc do.

This occurred shortly after using Envy to auto-update my video drivers.
