[Bug 11697] Total Annihilation runs very slowly

I just ran TA into sysprof to try to identify the culprit : since i don't have
a debug enabled version of wine(yet), there aren't a lot of details : 

this is from launching TA, starting skirmish, building a Solar panel and then
quitting : 

X11DRV_DIB_SetImageBits -> Self 33.19sec ->total 33.44
???[Wine]               -> Self 26.79sec ->total 55.48
...
???[.../Totala.exe]     -> Self 6.27sec  ->total 14.23
