for the messy details.

You might want to grab a july 2007 version from
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=103338&package_id=111040
and build it yourself.  This is a pain.
Then to regenerate wine's fonts, go into the fonts subdir of the wine source
tree, do 'make clean', 'make', and maybe 'sudo make install'.
