This is actually a bug with joining games that Blizzard apparently fixed for
the Windows version if I recall reading a changelog correctly and it appears to
be network related and only happens within the game browse screen. 

There had been Wine versions that did not trigger this state for me around the
~0.9.4x series aswell.
