I get the same error here.
Wine 0.9.56, Nvidia Geforce 7400 Go, Spellforce Platinum Edition.
I applied a no-cd patch. Without it, the game doesn't even start.
With it applied I can start the game, select points in the menu
and select saved games. But as described earlier it then crashes
while loading a game.
