It DID have support for it but it was disabled and possibly removed due to
patent worries. See

There seems to be other methods to do enhance LCD rendering using XFT and
Cairo. Even if the code is still enabled in FreeType my understanding from
discussions with Huw was that Wine would need some more infrastructure to use
it if it was enabled.
