Same problem. I copied the GOTY contents to hard drive and replaced only the
setup.exe with the setup.exe for the Shivering Isles version (from
gamecopyworld) and the installation proceeded fine and the game runs fine so
far. Hope this helps narrow down/confirm the problem and provide an interim
workaround.
