Following the instruction on the forums, I found out how to try using native
versions of dinput.dll, or dinput8,dll.  I hit the jackpot by using the free
version of dinput8.dll located at
http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?dinput8

It fixed the key commands perfectly, and with the setup that I'm using, the
application runs perfectly.  I cannot guarantee that there will be the same
degree of success with other processor / video card combinations, or other
operating systems.  I hope there is, and that more people can include test data
under the main application so we can get it working for more people.  =D
