Sorry, forget my comment #12, apparently i had  the hack

crash log:
err:msi:ACTION_CallDllFunction Custom action
(L"C:\\windows\\temp\\msic5d1.tmp":L"softwareEmulation") caused a page fault:
c0000005
err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x7e568ae0 "x11drv_main.c:
X11DRV_CritSection" wait timed out in thread 000b, blocked by 0075, retrying
(60 sec)

I can see that this is actually a duplicate of #13599. 

Though this bug was opened earlier, the  other one has the more useful info i
guess

Try the above mentioned hack to get the application installed
