The 'other linux games work well with my driver' argument doesn't hold.  Wine
uses different code paths and functionality in the driver that isn't
necessarily used by 'other linux games'.  That's like saying all games should
work in Wine because solitaire works with your driver.  We've seen hundreds of
bug reports like this one, and we know the quality of the ATI Linux drivers
firsthand...they're really buggy.
