Installed and run - no change in the "No COM ports" message.  

The relevant part of the Application.log reads:
6.110:0.148: Initialization complete in 6.110 seconds.
6.112:0.002: Created AlarmController: 0x000001ec (0x17)
25.654:19.542: Enumerating COM ports:
82.749:57.095: Shutting down...
82.823:0.074: Shutdown complete

The trace will go up as soon as I hit commit for this post.
