I have had this lag problem also. After switching my router, the massive packet
loss almost disappeared. 
With the Fritz!Box 7170 there was this massive packet loss, but only in
Linux/Wine
With my old Siemens SX541 there is no lag anymore. 
No hardware/software changes other than the router solved this issue for me.
