For me, using Zmud.exe from installer
(http://forums.zuggsoft.com/index.php?page=4&action=file&file_id=65) yielded
the same problem even with the suggested workaround. I am also running
2.6.24-16:

Linux ubuntu-desktop 2.6.24-16-generic #1 SMP Thu Apr 10 13:23:42 UTC 2008 i686
GNU/Linux
