WINE does control the mic volume in DNS now, and does a pretty good job of it. 
I was surprised to find that, even in Hardy Heron, with all the PulseAudio
problems they've been having, that it works so well. 
I think this bug should be closed out. 

Sadly, Hardy Heron has other sound problems, and my level of accuracy,
according to DNS's scale, has slipped from 29 to 21, a huge decrease. However,
this does not prevent the program from performing adequately for my needs.
