I will also add that while playing a LAN game (through Hamachi VPN), I can
usually only see the chat text of the host, and not anything from the other
players, even though I confirmed that they were sending messages in game. (LAN
games are different in that they do not go through Battle.net.)

I have, however, had the odd game where I could see more chat (in that case it
was from another guy who was at the same real home network as the host).

I will test a real LAN game in a few days.
