I just tried 'em, http://www.xmission.com/~nate/tutors.html
They work fine on my machine (except they are all grey until you click
in the right place...)  Perhaps it's your opengl drivers.
What do the following commands output on your system?

$ lspci | grep VGA
0000:01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV41GL [Quadro FX
1400] (rev a2)
$ grep -i driver /etc/X11/xorg.conf
...
        Driver          "nvidia"
