With an XP installation running under QEMU, I did two trials. First, I mapped a
new virtual hard disk into the VM, formatted it to the NTFS file system, and
then mapped it to drive letter Z:\. The second time, I mapped a Samba share of
the Linux host onto Z:\. Both times, I ran the CHL executable from the command
prompt, and it started without issues. on Wine, I merely invoked the app with
WINEDEBUG=$HOME/chl wine CHL_Network_.exe with my working directory in my
user's desktop.
