I am able to produce a similar problem, without the fixme event in KDE.

Steps to reproduce:
* Open Beyond Compare (e.g., ./wine "C:\Program Files\Beyond Compare
2\BC2.exe")
* Open a folder compare session.
* Select a file with differences.
* Change desktops

You will notice that the beyond compare windows travel with you to the new
desktop.  Another caveat: if, after selecting a file with differences, you
choose the main beyond compare window, and leave the file diff viewer maximized
in the background, and then change desktops....  Then you will see that the
title bar for the comparison is visible on the screen, and in the Alt+Tab
interface, but not in the task bar.
