Having installed both xinput1_3¹ and d3dx9_36 (either in windows/system32 or
in the game's directory or in any combination) doesn't solve the problem.
Output on stderr is similar.

[1] We've had an off-site discussion - the mentioned DLL's name is xinput1_3.
