I forgot to mention I disabled pulseaudio, but same result.
I also tried installing OSS
(http://www.4front-tech.com/release/oss-linux-4.1-1052_amd64.deb), and I had
sound under Gnome (but no mixer), and I also had sound under Morrowind, but the
bug was still here.
Note that on my system, the freeze lasts about half a second.
