1. Could you add any more information so that anyone could try to reproduce
this? (Where did the crash happen?)
2. What driver version, gpu, distro do you have?
3. Have you tried with a fresh .wine directory?
4. Do you have combiz/beryl running?
5. Could you try wine 1.1.15 (at least wine-1.1.15-177-g7555da4 workes fine
here)?
6. How did you start the game? (Did you switch to the directory first, before
you start the game?)
7. Could you try the older version you mentioned and if it works fine there,
please run a regression test ( http://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting ).

Also, please have a look at bug 12013 probably one solution solves your
problem.
