Summary: Morrowind pauses before and after combat
           Product: Wine
           Version: 1.1.12
          Platform: PC-x86-64
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: minor
          Priority: P3
         Component: quartz
        AssignedTo: wine-bugs at winehq.org
        ReportedBy: boyd.mon at gmail.com

Starting combat causes Morrowind to pause 1-2 sec, during which time the game
is frozen and input is ignored. I'll show one message I see when this happens
for the benefit of others looking at similar bugs:
fixme:quartz:AsyncReader_QueryInterface No interface for
{56a868b3-0ad4-11ce-b03a-0020af0ba770}!

That and two similar (Parser_QueryInterface, TransformFilter_QueryInterface)
messages always appear together when this problem occurs. I've noticed
something that might make it easier to reproduce - the same messages also
appear during a part of the game's startup.

To reproduce combat, walk through creating a character and attack any creature.
A fraction of a second later they'll trigger combat mode, and the game will
pause 1-2 sec.

To reproduce this in startup, start Morrowind and hit escape to skip the intro.
The game files will load with progress bar (Initializing, ...). Once the
progress bar disappears, the problem reproduces.

This problem is very visible, but tolerable for most people playing the game.
Other users have pointed out the same problem in the wine appdb.

My ASUS motherboard has built-in GeForce NVIDIA 8300 graphics which I use to
play the game, and it does not cause a crash. Those factors caused me to
separate this bug from others.
