I didn't configured anything.I just used clean wineprefix, installed demo and
tried to run it. 
Sadly I don't have a monitor with both these resolutions, so I can't test if
the game would actually run with it. When I plug in monitor which supports
1280x960 the relevant line disappear. That looks promising.
However this demo is working fine under Windows without 1280x960 and 1600x1200
resolutions and not working under Wine. 
I'm not a very experienced wine user and if you really think this problem is
caused by my configuration or by some other bug not in Wine, I won't argue.
