What do you mean by "it"? The original bug (crash after intro videos) or crash
on startup due to missing d3dx9_36 calls?

I can confirm that the latter is still there, in the demo from your link above
as well as in the full game, on 1.1.22. The missing function is
d3dx9_36.dll.D3DXCreateEffectCompiler
(This is the same as bug 11675, is it not?)
