Windows does indeed do the same thing, to the best of my knowledge. The
solution (as per bug 13829 comment 14) is to set up Wine's Font Replacements to
provide the fonts you want in the name of the font it's replacing (in this
case, MS UI Gothic -> VL Gothic) and then it'll work when the fonts links are
updated.
