Presuming that the installer in question is
http://ftp.ni.com/support/softlib/labview/labview_runtime/8.5/windows/LabVIEW85RuntimeEngineFull.exe
then the installer currently faults with a message box stating:

"Fatal error!! Required NIPathsDir property METAUNINSTALLERVERSIONNUMERIC is
undefined."

This particular issue is akin to bug 8895.
