Sound is available without using neither "winetricks xact" nor "winetricks
directx9"  in Supreme Commander Forged Alliance (unpatched).
My system is Fedora 11, wine sound driver: ALSA, sound sample rate: 44100 Hz,
Wine-1.1.23
