I've been getting this error too with eve-online lately, My computer setup is:
Q6600 CPU
4GB ddr2 800 mem
ATI HD4850 512MB card and fglrx 9.6
Running Arch Linux x86_64
Daily wine git pull
Running top alongside wine and eve-online shows about 980MBs free after wine
initially allocates virtual memory. With OffscreenRenderingMode set to fbo that
980MBs gets eaten away a little over 1MB per 3 seconds by wine until it crashes
around 300MBs left (GL_OUT_OF_MEMORY) and that's just leaving the EVE login
screen on and doing nothing else.
With backbuffer set, it does it more slowly in that I have to login, load
stuff, move around for memory to get allocated before a crash occurs. If I just
leave the client alone the virtual memory seems to just stay stable but doesn't
get any smaller.
