How badly are the apps confused by this?
Arguably this is not a bug, since in that case, the C: drive is in fact on a
network drive...

This might require some discussion.  
For instance, it might suffice to let winecfg override
C's drive type.  This might be easier to get past Alexandre,
and would give people a workaround for now.
