I uninstalled Wine 1.1.15 and 1.1.17 (all the components). Then tried
wine-core-1.1.9-2.fc8 RPM for i386, on Fedora 10. This version has absolutely
no problems and works just fine. The fonts are rendered perfectly. This
obviously means that a change in between 1.1.9.2 to 1.1.17 screwed up font
rendering.
There is no blocker in replicating this issue. All you need to do is go to
http://www.sourceinsight.com/, download their 35 day trial version, and install
on a FC10 x86 system.
I see the same behavior for Dreamweaver, Beyond Compare etc. Since all windows
applications exhibit very bad fonts making them unworkable suggest increasing
priority of this bug.
