I ran Sins again and this time I watched the memory usage. The virtual memory
mapped into Sins peaked around 4087 MB. It got there pretty fast and stayed
there. About 10 minutes later I started to see GL_OUT_OF_MEMORY messages.
The Resident stayed around 1400MB, while the Shared stayed around 60MB.
I couldn't help but notice that 4087 is awfully close to the 32-bit limit.
However, I can get into the 3GB range for virtual memory just by running
notepad.exe. I wasn't aware of this, but I suppose this might just be the way
Wine does its memory mappings. I thought I was on to something with the
virtual memory size until I ran notepad!
Memory usage (as reported by the kernel) doesn't appear to be the cause of the
GL_OUT_OF_MEMORY.
