That's kind of my point, it doesn't matter if an application is technically
*usable* if no one wants to use it that way.
I(having been into computers and programming for 25+ years) wouldn't want to
use it that way, and for a normal user, this means totally and utter unusable.
Have you tried the suggestion that Vitaliy Margolen had, disabling 3D stuff?
I don't use gnome, but the settings should be locate somewhere like
Systems>preferences>desktop effects.
