So there is no way Wine developers are going to see why this happens? Great.
Compiz is enabled on most if not all Ubuntu installations. I'm not convinced
that the user will see "It is a Compiz bug" as sufficient. Wine runs Windows
applications on Ubuntu (or any Compiz enabled distro for that matter) and it
really looks bad if one installs this and all you get is a blank screen.

I've tested it with Codeweavers CrossOver Office 8.0 and the same problem
persists.

Please reconsider this on the argument that Compiz has become the standard and
that there is no other applications (except Wine) on Linux that creates this
blacked out screen.
