On WINE 1.1.33 the installer that downloads the game craps after starting. It
may have worked had I open it again, but I went for the manual set of
downloadable files.

Work great from there. Installation worked fine and then the game updated well.

I would make a note of that in the installation instructions until this is
fixed.
