I removed my .wine directory, removed wine, installed v1.1.43 from scratch, and
re-installed the game in my new-born .wine prefix.

With game v1.6 from the DVD, the copy protection crashes, but with patch v1.7
applied, the game doesn't even check for the disc in the drive, so i can play
from a regular CoD4 installation! :-)

1- vanilla v1.1.43 crashes.
2- v1.1.43 + Attachment 27301 crashes immediately.
3- v1.1.43 + Attachment 27372 seems to work (no crash within 15 minutes). I'll
thoroughly test tomorrow night as i have a LAN over VPN session...

Stephan, please don't be offended, but from my work experience, the bug is very
(very) often where it cannot be... After Murphy's law point #1 is definitely a
good candidate! ;-)
