Yeah, I have been all over that (and for all the patches too), I have also seen
on http://www.fmtux.net/index.php/topic,551.0.html (first two posts, it seems
to drop onto the topic of the steam vs. cd version after that) (and other sites
via google) that its not just me that is having the problem.

the "fixme:d3d_surface:IWineD3DBaseSurfaceImpl_Blt Filters not supported in
software blit " error has gone with later builds of wine (it is there in
1.1.41) but the end result is the same, for example it took me 10 + attempts
this morning to get it to start.

what I am getting, except I am in debian testing not ubuntu.
